Emoto’s own account says his team froze water and inspected crystals after exposing samples to letters, images, music and prayer. He describes beauty as the selection criterion, and characterises the photographs as art rather than science.
In the 2006 pilot and the 2008 follow-up with blinded elements, the measured outcome was how attractive judges found selected crystal images. The 2008 paper reported a one-tailed p = 0.03 against proximal controls.
Neither study directly measured a rearrangement of H₂O molecules caused by consciousness, and neither establishes a dependable consumer effect. The accurate framing is inspired by a question, not proven by an experiment.
We say this plainly because the alternative — implying scientific proof we do not have — would undermine the only thing a symbol can honestly offer: a place for your attention to land.
